All provinces in Canada and all states in the United States have regulated maximum highway vehicle weights (GVW). The axle weights of highway vehicles are also regulated. While a truck may comply with its maximum gross weight, if the load is not distributed properly, the vehicle’s axle weights may not comply. Axle scales are used to check the weight of different combinations of axles to ensure compliance with regulations. Display and printing of individual axles is available along with a totalized axle weight feature, thereby determining the vehicle’s total gross weight as well. Axle scales can be installed in a ground level pit or above the ground.
