Check out our FAQ below – if you don’t see your question, let us know

  1. How are truck scales built?
Truck scales are typically built using a mix of concrete, steel, and measurement/balancing mechanisms. Of course, exactly how the scale is built will depend on the manufacturing and the type of scale.
  2. How accurate are commercial truck scales?
Even with the highest quality scale systems, there are still factors you need to be aware of that greatly affect the accuracy of your weighing system. There are 4 main factors that could be affecting your scale’s accuracy – check them out here.

  3. What can affect truck scale readings?
Several factors can affect the scale rating such as load cell malfunctioning, scale load factors caused by the load on the scale itself, and how it was applied and supported. Environmental factors can also affect the industrial weigh scale’s accuracy such as vibration, shock loading, unclean scales, wind loading, air pressure differences and temperature.
  1. How do you weigh a truck with portable scales?
Portable axle scale weigh pads are placed in the desired location and the driver moves the vehicle over them to weigh the axle in question. Portable scales are a low-profile steel weighbridge that allows vehicles to drive onto it in order to calculate the weight. The load cell is located at the core of the surface and protected by a durable casing. Learn more about portable truck scales here.

  2. Are portable scales accurate?
Looking at the scales themselves, portable vehicle scales are highly accurate. There is no need to fear that they will be any less accurate than a permanent one, as long as you keep up with regular maintenance and calibration like you should be doing for any scale.
